{"id":17616,"date":"2025-06-28T04:57:58","date_gmt":"2025-06-28T04:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abahaman.com\/abahaman\/?p=17616"},"modified":"2025-06-28T04:57:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T04:57:58","slug":"poems-1190","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abahaman.com\/abahaman\/poems-1190\/","title":{"rendered":"Poems by  Somolekha Sur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Minerva<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The kite was flying<\/p>\n<p>A cosmogyral conspiracy<\/p>\n<p>The kite can be anything<\/p>\n<p>The alliances are parasitic,<\/p>\n<p>Not symbiotic<\/p>\n<p>The Minerva<\/p>\n<p>Elocution day\u2026 crowd!<\/p>\n<p>She was vocal, irrelevant<\/p>\n<p>The kite was flying, torn but<\/p>\n<p>Freedom is everything<\/p>\n<p>The glory, the Minerva<\/p>\n<p>Long live!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staying Awake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am trying my best to stay conscious,<br \/>\nto not let the blur of hours undo me\u2014<br \/>\nto feel the weight of breath,<br \/>\nthe tug of thought,<br \/>\nthe moment before it slips unnamed.<\/p>\n<p>I am trying to stay relevant,<br \/>\nto speak in tongues the world still listens to,<br \/>\nto shape my silence into something seen,<br \/>\nto not become background noise<br \/>\nin a room filled with brighter static.<\/p>\n<p>I am trying not to lose<br \/>\nthe sense of now\u2014<br \/>\nthe sharp edge of it,<br \/>\nthe way it cuts through memory and maybe.<br \/>\nI chase it like wind,<br \/>\nbut it flickers, evasive,<br \/>\nalways one beat ahead of belief.<\/p>\n<p>I am trying to appear<br \/>\nin the most acceptable way,<br \/>\nsmoothed at the corners,<br \/>\npalatable and known,<br \/>\nthough my edges long to crack,<br \/>\nto bloom into something<br \/>\ntoo true to tame.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where language dissolves <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a place in me<br \/>\nwhere language dissolves\u2014<br \/>\nwhere you are not spoken,<br \/>\nbut known.<\/p>\n<p>You move through the hush<br \/>\nbetween heartbeats,<br \/>\na flicker of gold<br \/>\nin the dark of my breath.<\/p>\n<p>No eye can touch this\u2014<br \/>\nthe bloom, the pulse,<br \/>\nthe endless falling<br \/>\ninto you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dilemma<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Where eagle\u2019s dare<\/p>\n<p>Catch the running water<\/p>\n<p>The gloves of the stolen childhood<\/p>\n<p>Debris.<\/p>\n<p>Mutilations. Ashes. Temperament.<\/p>\n<p>Accuse whom for the right crop?<\/p>\n<p>Ashes. Ashes. Ashes.<\/p>\n<p>Sarcasm.<\/p>\n<p>Mothers, brothers join hands<\/p>\n<p>Society in serious dilemma<\/p>\n<p>Whereabouts are investigated<\/p>\n<p>Monochrome. <\/p>\n<p>Fullstops are common causes<\/p>\n<p>The band of reds and yellows<\/p>\n<p>Defying the moralistic,<\/p>\n<p>Future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the poet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Somolekha is a well-known Kolkata based poet and author. Her books, Little Tales from La La Land, Conundrum, Zilch, Distant Brontide, Oud &#038; Amber and Yellow Goggles were her efforts to introduce the intense visions in her mindscape to the world. She currently teaches in the Bhawanipur College and is the COO of Azure ad agency. She writes in both Bengali and English with equal \u00e9lan.
